Welcome to the next edition of the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!  DId you arrive from Misty's blog?  If so, you are on the right track!

I'm glad you found me and hope you are enjoying all the ideas you've seen so far.  I have to say,  I adore the February Stamp of the month, "Piece of Cake" - there's lots of cute birthday cakes and wishes to chose from for all your craft needs!

I wanted to do something fun and festive with this set.  My daughter got a paper craft book for Christmas and a few days ago, she wanted to make tissue paper lanterns.  All four kids wanted to join in, so I thought I would use this stamp set to make one too!

These are a super-simple project.   You can make these any size you'd like.  The kids used four 6x6 cardstock squares - we cut a 5x5 square out of the middle of each, leaving behind a one inch frame.  The kids decorated tissue paper that was about 5 and a half square - once they were done, we just adhered those to the inside of the frames.  Then, we taped the four frames together to form the square and punched holes in the front and back to add string for hanging.

My lantern was essentially the same, except I used a 6x5 Inch Crystal Blue rectangle for each side and also made a smaller frame out of sorbet paper that I attached to the front.  I used papers from the new Caboodle kit for both the lantern and a matching card.

When you stamp on tissue paper, you'll want to lay a page from your desk pad, or other scrap paper underneath where you are stamping.  The image does go right through the tissue paper onto your foam otherwise and can get messy!  I also stamped a couple of extra cakes onto cardstock which I colored and cut out to embellish two sides of the lantern and add a splash of color.

The kids completed their wonderfully colorful lanterns as well and we hung them up between our kitchen and dining room.  They sure brighten up the room almost as much as the smiles on their sweet faces!  I'm glad I found a way this week to make my work into child's play!
