Our winner from last month's contest was Terri from Seal'd in Ink! When the random number generator picked her, I somehow wasn't surprised. We have a lot in common...Terri loves to stamp, loves starbucks, and just finished remodeling her kitchen!! Why don't you see the major amazing kitchen she ended up with here: www.sealedinink.com/

It was so wonderful to see all the comments on my blog last week... I may have to bribe people more often! Seriously, it was good to see all the different ideas that make customer service important to you. We all need reminded that it is the little things that matter and you gave me many wonderful thoughts.
So, I think that Tuesday will simply have to be our Contest day! Since we did customer service ideas last week, let's do a family style question this week. As you might know, I am spending the summer in Ohio with my parents while we remodel. It's a small town and we're tight on cash. But I still want this to be a memorable summer and one that they enjoy and love to look back on!
So what are YOUR ideas for a fun and frugal summertime? I'd love to hear what you think we should do! While you come up with ideas, I'll let YOU look at my cute kids and then I'll let my kids look at all your ideas and make some plans for August. I'll announce the winner next Tuesday 8/3 and again, send along a goodie in the mail to the winner!!

My little guy is only two but one thing we have really enjoyed doing every Tuesday is go to the library. Our library has a storyteller come and read to the kids. It is way fun and that way we have new books every week. Somehow, even though he is only two he knows what day is library day!
Your kids are beautiful! Don't mind looking at them at all :)
Thanks for visiting my blog! My favorite summer recipe which is yummy (and cheap!)is passed down from my grandmother - macaroni and tomatoes (such as canned stewed tomatoes)! Just mix and add some salt & pepper for seasoning and it is a great meal to enjoy on a hot summer day! I'm hoping to find a nice gluten-free pasta so that I can enjoy it this summer too!
We have had fun with geo caching! You get to go on a mini adventure to find the item that is hidden! People have things hidden everwhere!
Just came across your awesome blog, love love love the layout! Don't have to time tonight to browse, but I will be back. I became a follower!
Though we haven't used it yet (due to my laziness), we bought one of those beach ball sprinklers for the kids to play with - easier to keep clean than a pool, and a whole lot cheaper!
We also have an abundance of parks and beaches w/in a 10 minutes drive from our house, so when I'm not feeling lazy, we can grab our gear and go play for free!
Hi! Coming over from #31DBBB - it's been great getting to tweet with you!
I did a DIY summertime project w the kids on my blog - http://www.reallifewithkids.com/?p=704 which is essentially taking buckets and turning them into planters. You can totally "repurpose" containers you already have for this project.

Of course people have already mentioned the library. As a kid, that was always my favorite thing to do in the summer!
Cooking together is also fun. Making fun stuff like cookies or something is a great way to get the kids involved and then everyone wins because you have COOKIES!
Bike riding as a family can also be a lot of fun, especially if you ride around a really pretty area. When I was little, we used to bike around a really pretty old neighborhood near where we lived. I was never much for being outside, but I LOVED riding bikes with my family.
I hope you guys end up with some fun stuff to do!
Your family is beautiful! And, I think your blog is awesome! I love summertime. Love outdoors. We enjoy going for walks, especially around any bodies of water. Lake trails are fun. Started doing a little hiking this year too. That is a great family activity! Even the young ones enjoy it! :)
Fun and frugal well for me summertime with the kids is about building memories with them that they will be able to look back on in the future with fondness. Picnics have always been a favourite with my family. Water is also something that delights them. So finding somewhere to picnic near water that they can wade or swim in has always been popular. Very inexpensive with no commercial attractions to distract!
Have a happy summer & hope you manage to find some beautiful "Kodak Moments" with the family.
Have the kids set up an obstacle course in the back yard... with maybe a water challenge, a put on/take off clothes, toss a ball in a bucket.. etc... the ideas and variations are endless. Do this challenge over a week and have each of them design a course--you too-- and see what different ideas each person can come up with...
The beach is always fun too... give them each 1 bucket (all the same size) and challenge them to build a sand castle, higher, wider, etc.. then be sure to get pictures!!
On our trip, we did a variation of the alphabet game - instead of just looking for words on signs starting with each letter, we looked for things - airplane, bird, car/cloud, etc. This could work for a day at the park, a walk around the neighborhood, etc.
Sometimes mini golf and bowling can be inexpensive if you find the right place at a less popular time.
